Getting Started
Is there a registration fee for the Virtual Challenge?
No - there is no registration fee for either the virtual or in-person components of this event.
Upon registration, participants can choose to make a personal donation to the event that will count towards their fundraising goal. Personal donations will automatically receive a charitable tax receipt.
What do I need to register?
You'll be asked to provide your contact information (email and mailing address) during registration. You will also set your movement and fundraising goals during registration - but don't worry, you can change these later if you'd like!
If you are creating a TEAM, you will be asked to create a team name.
That's it! Pretty simple, right?
If you encounter any technical difficulties, please contact us at the Foundation office 705-746-4540 ext 3347.
Is there a minimum fundraising amount required to participate?
There is no minimum fundraising amount.
Set a goal. Go for it... blow past it!
But pledges count - big time! We need you to gather as many pledges as you can. It is all about health. Moving your body every day boosts your health... collecting pledges helps us build a healthy community.
Every dollar raised helps enhance care at the West Parry Sound Health Centre and that is what it is all about!
What am I fundraising for?
This year, donations will help update the Bone Mineral Density Testing equipment at WPSHC
Currently there are 2.3 million Canadians living with osteoporosis and even more are living with low bone mass, known as osteopenia. Within their lifetime, at least 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men will break a bone due to losing bone mass.
Join us in increasing access to high-quality, local testing.
Any pledges collected above and beyond our goal will be designated to the next highest priority of the Health Centre.
Tracking Your Fitness During the Virtual Challenge
When can I make my moves?
Participants can start tracking their movement on May 1st.
Those who register before that date will have their fitness stats reset at midnight on April 30th so we all start fresh together on May 1st!
For the rest of the month, you can walk, run, or MOVE your body however and whenever you'd like! Set a movement goal and track towards that goal throughout May.
Can I connect my fitness app (Fitbit, Strava)?
Yes! If you use the Fitbit or Strava apps, you can set up automatic syncing to our platform. This simplifies fitness tracking and saves you time!
Follow these steps to track your moves automatically:
- Download the Fitbit or Strava and set up your account.
- Log in to your fundraising page.
- Under the heading ‘Connect your preferred Fitness app’, click your chosen app.
- Follow the prompts to connect your account.
- When you are ready to move, select ‘Start your workout’ in the app on your phone or smart device. Be sure to end the workout in the app when you're done! The workout will sync to your Personal Fundraising Page the following day, updating your tally.
If you have synced your app but it is not working...
When using Fitbit, you must ‘start’ an activity and save it. Your daily steps will not automatically add to your page. If you are having issues, try syncing through BOTH your Fitbit and the Fitbit app on your smartphone.
How do I track my moves manually?
You can manually add your kilometres to the tally in your “Log My Fitness Activity” tab of your fundraiser dashboard. This is a great option if you’re using a different method of tracking your distances.
- Log in to your account and select ‘Log My Fitness Activity’
- Under ‘Add activity’, enter the date and distance
- The number of KMs will now appear on your fundraising page!
