Getting Started

Is there a registration fee?

No - there is no registration fee for either the virtual or in-person components of this event.

Upon registration, participants can choose to make a personal donation to the event that will count towards their fundraising goal. Personal donations will automatically receive a charitable tax receipt.

What do I need to register?

You'll be asked to provide your contact information (email and mailing address) during registration. You will also set your fitness and fundraising goals during registration - but don't worry, you can change these later if you'd like!

If you are creating a TEAM, you will be asked to create a team name.

That's it! Pretty simple, right?

If you encounter any technical difficulties, please contact us at the Foundation office 705-746-4540 ext 3347.

Is there a minimum fundraising amount required to participate?

There is no minimum fundraising amount.

Set a goal. Go for it... blow past it!

But pledges count - big time! We need you to gather as many pledges as you can. It is all about health. Your goal each day will pump your heart and your pledges will keep hearts pumping at the Health Centre! And that is what it is all about.

What am I fundraising for?

This year, donations will help buy upgraded pulmonary function testing (PFT) equipment at the Health Centre.

Recent research has shown that patients with common lung diseases such as asthma, COPD, and lung fibrosis are significantly more likely to develop cardiovascular disease. At WPSHC, we strive to provide the cardio-respiratory services needed for consultation, testing, and treatment where we live and work.

This piece of new equipment will complete the components necessary to provide the highest level of testing for diagnosis and treatment. This means that we can provide care in our community and eliminate the need for our cardio-respiratory patients to travel outside the area.

Any pledges collected above and beyond the purchase of the PFT equipment will be designated to the next highest priority of the Health Centre.

Am I eligible to earn a prize?

Participants who raise more than $300.00 will earn a FREE Chilly Moose tumbler.

MADE IN CANADA! The 20oz (590ml) Killarney Tumbler is double-wall vacuum insulated and made with premium food-grade stainless steel. Includes a clear, flip-top spill-resistant lid.

Tracking Your Fitness During the Virtual Event

When can I make my moves?

Participants can start tracking their movement on May 1st.

Those who register before that date will have their fitness stats reset at midnight on April 30th so we all start fresh on May 1st!

For the rest of the month, you can walk, run, or pole however and whenever you'd like! Set a fitness goal and track towards that goal throughout May.

Can I connect my fitness app (Fitbit, Strava)?

Yes! If you use the Fitbit or Strava apps, you can set up automatic syncing to our platform. This simplifies fitness tracking and saves you time!

Follow these steps to track your moves automatically:

  1. Download the Fitbit or Strava and set up your account.
  2. Log in to your fundraising page.
  3. Under the heading ‘Connect your preferred Fitness app’, click your chosen app.
  4. Follow the prompts to connect your account.
  5. When you are ready to move, select ‘Start your workout’ in the app on your phone or smart device. Be sure to end the workout in the app when you're done! The workout will sync to your Personal Fundraising Page the following day, updating your tally.

If you have synced your app but it is not working...

When using Fitbit, you must ‘start’ an activity and save it. Your daily steps will not automatically add to your page. If you are having issues, try syncing through BOTH your Fitbit and the Fitbit app on your smartphone.

How do I track my moves manually?

You can manually add your kilometres to the tally in your “Log My Fitness Activity” tab of your fundraiser dashboard. This is a great option if you’re using a different method of tracking your distances.

  1. Log in to your account and select ‘Log My Fitness Activity’
  2. Under ‘Add activity’, enter the date and distance
  3. The number of KMs will now appear on your fundraising page!
