Optimistic Update on Anti-Venom - From Lynne Atkinson
June 17, 2009   Issue 3
Cautious Optimism
The local LHIN has confirmed funding for $60,000 for WPSHC's 2009 Anti-Venom order of CroFab.

Further good news, there is reason to believe the Anti-Venom Depot System is being reevaluated.  On Tuesday June 16th, CEO Donald Sanderson received the following email from the WPSHC LHIN representative working on the Anti-Venom Depot issue "... Since our meeting on June 4th the broader awareness level of this issue has increased.  From recent discussions with Ministry of Health representatives I am cautiously optimistic that a resolution may be not-to-far off..."

The support of the Federation of the Northern Ontario Municipalities (FNOM), the Councils of the Townships of the Archipelago, McKellar and Town of Parry Sound plus the individual correspondence of many cottagers, residents and associations has helped to heighten the awareness of this important local and provincial issue so thank you for lending a hand.  To ensure this isn't an annual funding crisis, it is important to continue expressing the need to reinstitute the Depot System to the Honourable David Caplan, Minister of Health and Long Term Care.
