Urgently Needed Ventilators Arrive Today
Over the last several weeks we have struggled to buy two ventilators and an IV Pump critical to serving patients with the flu virus. Generous donations from the Auxiliary of the West Parry Sound Health Centre, the McKellar Seniors, Horseshoe Lake Camp & Cottages, Scotiabank and several individual donors have been combined to buy the urgently needed equipment. We are thrilled to announce that today the two ventilators arrived at the Health Centre. The equipment will be up and running tomorrow.

Anti-Venom Update
Parry Sound is the epicenter for poisonous snakebites in Ontario. Of the 14 rattlesnake bites that our pharmacist is aware of across the province this past summer (there is currently no central depot so these numbers are not tracked), 9 were treated locally in our Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. In spite of best efforts to confirm funding for the treatment of bites, which cost more than $20,000 each, the Health Centre is yet to recover the dollars from the Ministry.
