Chair's Message
The Foundation’s vision is central to our success - "We
Provide Extraordinary Support for Health Care in Cottage Country".
We are committed to ensuring that you receive the services you need, when you
need them now and in the future.
If you are reading my note, then chances are you have a
personal story about our Health Centre. Whether you cottage, camp or live
permanently in the Parry Sound area, the Health Centre offers you the only
Emergency Department along the 300K route between Barrie and Sudbury. Sudbury
is 165 km north; Barrie is 135 km south; and Toronto is 225 km south.
Because we are isolated on a 400 series highway, amidst
large bodies of water our medical team manages a broad scope of emergencies -
everything from highway tragedies, to boating or snowmobile injuries,
drownings, heart attacks, rattlesnake bites and a wide variety of other trauma.
For our residents, the Health Centre is much more than an Emergency
Service. For those of us lucky enough
to live in the area, the Health Centre offers full health services close to
home. Whether it’s breast screening,
chemotherapy, kidney dialysis, cardiac rehab or any other health service, the
ability to access full medical care locally ensures residents can stay put no
matter what storm hits them.
Together our residents and seasonal communities built our
facility. This was an extraordinary
achievement. Now together, we must
continue to support the critical and emerging equipment needs of the Health
Centre.
A number of local organizations host events that are an inspiration to
the Health Centre. We have golfers who contribute much through the
"Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament". Hundreds run and walk
pledging their distances to support our local cardiac rehab patients living
with heart disease in our annual Biosphere Walk, Run, Pole. Cottagers
host summer events making us the beneficiary of their good will. We
receive tribute donations for $10, $25 or $50, which are so very important to
us.
We are committed. Won't you join us? Please browse our site.
Make a donation. Get to know how
important the Health Centre is to the folks living or visiting in our northern
area. Read Lives that Have Touched Us. Help us "provide extraordinary support
for health care in cottage country". We can only do it with you!
